Sweet Baby Cash

Mother and Father so deeply in love,
Blessed with a Spirit that was sent from above.

Inside the womb. Baby nurtured and thrived,
Loved by them who wished he’d arrive.

But baby boy Cash, too soon was he born,
Death swooped down, leaving many to mourn.

Sweet little baby, he lives in the Heavens,

I would like to thank all of our great Friends and Family for all the support, love and prayers they have shown us. Today was not the greatest day of record. Cash had many problem areas when Natalie got to the Hospital. There was bruising in Cash's tummy area. After many X-rays and Sonograms they delivered some very bad news to us. The doctors said that his spleen ruptured or his liver had burst. All the hope and prayers had come to a final cross road there where no more options for our little cute baby Cash. It was now only time before he would be returning to his Heavenly Father. The doctors kept Cash on life support so we could hold him in our arms and so we could say goodbye to Cash.

Cash has taught me (DAD) a lot about unconditional love and what a Father would do for his child, even take his place if that was a option. I will really miss my little baby boy, but he is in a better place and I know our family will always have a Guardian angel name Cash Jeremy Goff.

I too would like to thank all of our Family, Friends, Ward Members, Co-Workers, and all others concerned and praying for our family & Baby Cash. We are truly the blessed ones to have been able to spend the 6 days with our little guy, before he returned back home to our Heavenly Father. It is so hard for me to think that I carried him for 6 months, had 6 days with him, and won't be with him until the time is right. He is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me and my life. He truly was so perfect in everyway possible, and I know he will be with his Daddy & Mommy everyday.

I am so grateful that we were able to take his temperature, change his diaper, read him stories, sing him songs (I bet he liked the ones Dad made up the MOST), and of course the daily Duck calls from Dad. "WE LOVE A BABY CASH" (Mom's saying), and feel him sending his love back to us. Even though he was so small he truly was a giant.

Again, we thank you all for prayers, love, support, comments, etc... I know Cash thanks you all as well, for giving his Dad & Mom your love and support, as they are the ones hurting at this time.

WEDNESDAY 8/22/07 (GOOD)

NO Surgery today. The surgeons didn't get around to Cash's surgery today, so they are shooting for tomorrow (Thursday). The good thing is that Cash is as stable as he is, or else they would have made sure to get to him today. We will keep you posted on the surgery status.

Cash had a really great day today! It started out by getting some time on his tummy. He seemed to really enjoy a different position, and looked very comfortable doing it.

Dad got to take part in taking Cash's temperature for the first time today.

The nurses loaded him up with Plasma, Platelets & blood, which will be very helpful for when he has his surgery. All of his blood work came back with great results, and he was able to come off of the insulin. His Billy numbers looked excellent, so they were also able to take him out of the Phototherapy lights (yippee no goggles). We love to look at our perfect little boys' face!

Tonight Mom read me a book and sang little songs to me. I think she enjoyed it just as much as I did. Dad also Sang me a song or two that he made up the words to, and of course, couldn't leave me until he did his daily duck call for me.

But the BEST news of the day was that I gained 3 oz. I now weigh in at 2 Lbs.

TUESDAY 8/21/07 (GOOD)

Early this morning the Doctors ran another Ecco Cardiogram, and confirmed that the PDA valve off of the heart is still open, and requires surgery. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday Morning/Afternoon.

Cash had another calm day, as it is very good for his body to get well rested for the surgery. His blood work stayed within the range where they like to see it, however he was back and forth on the insulin drip.

Mom got to change his diaper for for the first time, and take his temperature twice throughout the day.

One thing that was failed be to mentioned before, is that he is definitely his Father's son! It is amazing to me how much he looks like Jeremy, when he was first born. Their hands & feet are identical. Although Cash is so small, he does have big feet, just like Daddy.

As seen in the picture, Cash loves his thumb in his mouth (or at least the vicinity). Although he can't put his thumb in his mouth, due to the tubes, he's always got it waiting right there, in case the opportunity arises.

The highlight of the day however, was when Grandpa & Grandma Nickell came to see Cash (and Dad & Mom too)! They flew in from Arizona, and will be spending the week with us until next Tuesday.

CASH JEREMY GOFF

Cash Jeremy Goff was so anxious to come to earth, that he couldn't wait any longer. He made his way into to world on Friday morning 2:02 AM on August 17, 2007. We weighed in at 1 lbs. 14 oz. & was 11.6 in. long.

He definitely has Goff and Nickell in him, as he has proved to be a fighter! He is such a strong little guy, and continues to fight each day through. I can say he is much stronger than his Mother & Father.

The doctors have advised us that there will be good days and bad days, and we must just take them as they come.

FRIDAY: (GOOD DAY)
When Cash was born he let out a small cry (so I've been told) which we are very pleased with. When I saw him for the first time, I was actually happy that he was as big as his is. I was expecting him to be smaller, but he very long. All of his blood work and other tests came back with good results. Cash responds well to his Mommy's & Daddy's voices, as we did talk often to him while he was in the womb.

SATURDAY (AVERAGE)
Early Saturday Morning Cash has to have a blood transfusion. The Doctors had warned us that he would have to have many blood transfusions. He held up an I LOVE YOU to Mom & a ROCK ON to Dad with his right hand. They started him on a very very low dosage of insulin as his blood sugar was low. They were concerned, as they had suctioned some blood from his breathing tube. They advised us that they would be watching it closely, as it could be fluid from the delivery or blood in the lungs.

SUNDAY (BAD)
Mom finally got released from the hospital, and ran home to gather clothes and other items that I would need at the Hotel. While at home the Doctors called to say that Cash had more blood come up through his breathing tube, which was not a good sign. They advised us to get back to the Hospital ASAP. It took a while to get it under control, and to get Cash calmed down. The Doctors then performed an Ecco Cardogram to look at a valve coming off of his heart called a PDA. It's a valve that closes on it's own after 3 days of Full term baby. Many times these premiees have these issues that they can fix by drugs and surgery. They had already tried the drugs on Cash, and now are looking into clamping it off with surgery. Mom sang Lullabyes to me to calm me down. Cash had a quiet night sleep, with no problems.

MONDAY (GOOD FOR CASH/HARD FOR MOM & DAD)
Cash slept all day long, which is good, since he needs all the strength he can, especially after such a rough day before. His blood work came back with great results, and they were able to take him off the insulin for the time being. Dad & Mom sat down with the Doctors, and found that with an ultrsound, they found that Cash has blood on the brain. Stage 4 out of 1-4. Of course the Doctors must give the worst case possible, but we are very optimistic & know that Cash is a tough little boy. They believe that it is no longer bleeding, and will continue to monitor it closely.

We will try to keep you posted on Cash as well as pictures, as we know you are all interested and concerned about our Family.

We can't Thank you all enough for your prayers, love, support, friendship, kindness, etc... We are truly Humbled by the great Family, Friends, Ward members, Co-Workers, Etc... that we have in our lives. We are truly blessed!
